The SCR Classic Build carp rods are the traditional looking rods in the SCR Special edition range. All SCR Special Edition carp rods are hand built in the UK on the Free Spirit Hi S blanks using the highest specification components. To purchase rods to this specification you would normally have to use our very popular custom build rod service, but not anymore...

South Coast Rods have now made it possible to purchase the highest specification builds straight off the shelf, eliminating the 8-12 week build times you normally get when purchasing custom build rods.

The SCR Classic Build uses the very best rod technology available in the Hi S blank which has a proven track record as a long casting, robust and reliable blank. The handle set up comprises of a grade A full cork handle and black clone reel seat with isotope slot, finished with black collars and end cap. As you move up the blank you will find subtle 'SCR Ive' writing tipped with black whipping followed by a carbon line clip 6" from the handle. The first guide you come to is a 50mm black S Lite guide followed by a set up including guides of 40, 30, 25, and 20 and finished with a 16mm anti frap tip. The S Lite black guides compliment the handle and reel seat beautifully immediately reminding you of the traditional looking full cork set up of days gone by.

There are two Hi S blanks in the SCR Special Edition range which you can choose from. We have chosen the Hi S Ive in 13ft and Hi S Ive ER in 12ft as these two rods are suitable for and cover the vast majority of carp fishing situations you may come across today.

The Hi S Ive is the casting tool in the range and the Hi S Ives ER have been designed with a softer extra responsive tip. The Hi S Ive is the go to rod for the South Coast rods Collective when bag fishing at distance or trying to punch big leads, long distances, into the middle of the pond at showing fish. The Hi S Ive ER is our best selling rod and is one of, if not the best blank on market. The ER has the power to cast long distances but has a forgiving tip which provides a beautiful action for playing fish as well as aiding your casting.

The Hi S blank has been manufactured using a low resin 40t high quality carbon, finished with a stunning 1k weave. The resin content has been significantly reduced which has contributed to reducing the diameter of the blank, making it slimmer and lighter yet more powerful than other rods in the range. The change in design will help those who want to cast further but also those that are already competent at long range casting.

Due to the nature of the very slim tips the characteristics of the Hi-S blank lends itself towards a fast action with a stiffer mid and butt section. Tip bounce is something that has been almost completely eliminated meaning you are able to cast longer distances due to the reduced friction.

The manufacturing process of the Hi S blank has gone through years of refinement to ensure each blank falls within its upper and lower specification limits every time, so Free Spirit can be sure it meets its precision engineered tolerances.
